Areas of Focus

Students may wish to focus in different areas within and outside of the department through coursework or clinical focus. Students may elect to take courses in special education, psychology, gerontology, or family studies. Many undergraduate students are involved in both applied and theoretical research with faculty.

Undergraduates have the opportunity to complete research with each faculty through independent study and sponsored research funds . Several university and college scholarships encourage students to participate in research. Every year, the Department has both Undergraduate Summer Scholar students and Dean’s Scholar students work with faculty on projects and in their labs.

Current work in Voice, Dysphagia, Auditory Perception, and Neurocognitive Communication are several examples of such opportunities.
