Kelly, CCC-A , Associate Professor (Ph.D., Michigan State University, 1989) Audiologist who teaches courses in introduction to Audiology, amplification, hearing loss management and counseling. Research interests include counseling, attitudes toward hearing impairment and the perception of Deaf individuals.

KnollmanKelly Knollman-Porter, CCC-SLP, Instructor and Externship Coordinator, (MA, University of Cincinnati, 1992). Speech-language Pathologist whose interests include adult neurogenic language, speech, cognitive disorders and dysphagia. She is currently directing the Miami University Stroke Group and Concussion Management Program. Vitae

Faculty

BakerSusan Baker Brehm, CCC-SLP, Assistant Professor (Ph.D., University of Florida, 2003). Speech-language pathologist, who interests include the evaluation and treatment of voice disorders. She has a clinical and research affiliation with the Center for Pediatric Voice Disorders at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Her research also focuses on the use of respiratory training to reduce breathlessness during speech and exercise in patients with upper airway disorders. Vitae

KahnAlice R. Kahn CCC-SLP, Associate Professor (Ph.D., University of Memphis, 1984) Speech-language pathologist whose interests include the teaching of professional writing, genetics, neuroanatomy, craniofacial anomalies, and clinical photography. Dr. Kahn is the author of Craniofacial Anomalies: A Beginner's Guide For Speech-Language Pathologists (2000) Singular Thompson Learning; and Waardenburg Syndrome (2007) Plural Publishing.

ScarboroughDonna Scarborough, CCC-SLP, Assistant Professor (Ph.D., University of Cincinnati, 2002) Speech-language pathologist whose clinical and research interests include developmental neurosensory physiology, dysphagia and medical pediatrics.

 

Geralyn_Timler_Photo Geralyn Timler, CCC-SLP, Assistant Professor (Ph.D., University of Washington, 2000) Speech-langage pathologist, whose interests include child language. Dr. Timler's prior research has included work with choice-making and requesting of mentally individuals and the communication skills of school-age children with alcohol-related disabilities. She has served as a clinical supervisor in two clinics, a speech-language consultant, a director of speech and language services, and a staff SLP at a speech and hearing center. Dr. Timler has taught a variety of courses, including Language Development in Children, Language Development in Children, Language Disorders in School-aged Children, and Introduction to Speech and Language Disorders. She has also acted as a research mentor to graduate and undergraduate students for the past seven years.

Barbara Weinrich, CCC-SLP, Professor (Ph.D, University of WeinrichCincinnati, 1997) Speech-language pathologist who is interested in the study of child language disorders, voice disorders, techniques for supervising student clinicians on the undergraduate and graduate levels of clinical practicum, and private practice in communication disorders of children and adults. Part-time Faculty

In addition to the faculty listed above, the graduate program in speech pathology and audiology and the Miami University Speech and Hearing Clinic calls upon adjunct faculty and practicing professionals to provide guest lectures in areas of expertise and clinic supervision. These individuals have distinguished themselves in their respective disciplines and help provide a strong link between academics, clinical application and various professional organizations. We also maintain close ties on Miami's campus with the Scripps Foundation for gerontology, educational psychology and special education.

Albert_Hahn_PhotoChip Hahn, CCC-A/SLP is an adjunct instructor (AuD, University of Florida, 2007; dual MS, University of Louisville School of Medicine, 1989). He is a Doctor of Audiology and Speech/Language Pathologist. His clinical and research interests are in the areas of vestibular function, auditory processing, language disorders, early intervention, aural rehabilitation and supervision. He also has an interest in service delivery issues in non-profit settings and with medically indigent individuals.
