Conferences and Lectures
The Havighurst Center annually hosts two conferences; in the Fall, the International Young Researchers’ conference invites advanced graduate students and recent doctorate recipients from the U.S. and abroad to present their research on a specified topic. In the Spring, the Center's annual symposium invites senior scholars to present papers and discuss critical issues facing the region.
The Center also sponsors a weekly colloquium, in which Miami faculty, as well as invited speakers, talk about their research and present formal papers on themes chosen for that year.
In addition, the Center has hosted or co-sponsored an annual lecture, inviting nationally and internationally renowned academics from the field of Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian studies to lecture on their area of expertise.
