"Resource Hours" for the Women’s Center by Dr. Jennifer Browne, staff psychologist at Miami’s Student Counseling Service, provides information about personal issues including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, sexual assault recovery, and disordered eating as well as information on campus and community resources.
"Resource Hours" with Dr. Browne DOES NOT constitute a counseling relationship. Rather, it is intended to provide information and help you get connected with other campus and community resources. "Resource Hours" differ from a counseling relationship in that resource hours are not ongoing, no records are kept, either by Dr. Browne or the Student Counseling Service, appointments for "Resource Hours" can be made but are not required.
Any student can go to the Student Counseling Service, Monday or Thursday, 4:00 p.m.-5:00p.m. and tell the secretary" I'm here for "Resource Hours" from the Women's Center and I would like to see Dr. Jennifer Browne". This will identify the student as utilizing the "Resource Hours" and they will not have to wait for an appointment and will be seen immediately.
Miami students who wish to see a counselor may contact the Student Counseling Service at 529-4634, Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm to schedule an intake appointment. For students Dr. Browne can provide information about other campus resources as well as local private practitioners and health care providers.
