Session Descriptions

Money Management Principles for Women Leaders (Glynnis Reinhart).  Do you believe that the quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket?  This finance session will help to provide a foundation for understanding important money management principles.  This dry subject will be anything but as we explore in an easy to understand, humorous way the basic investing principles that could help you double your money!

Meditation and Guided Visualization (Dr. Pamela Wilkins). This session will offer an opportunity to step back from the pressures of leadership roles to enrich your sense of personal balance, harmony, and wellness.  Participants will learn and experience a range of visualization/relaxation techniques to decrease stress, increase self-empowerment, and balance energy while improving focus.  Energizing, refreshing, and relaxing peace-enhancing journeys will all be included!

Doing Good While Doing Well (Diane Perlmutter).  This session will explore ways to stay involved in your community while trying to advance your career, including how to determine what kind of community involvement/charitable work is right for you and how to balance work and family with these commitments.

Public and Media Relations in the Government Sector: Serving America's Citizens (Megan Moloney).  This session will look into how skills that are most commonly associated with the corporate environment -- public relations and media relations -- are also important within the government sector.  And not just from the political side of things! The session will also examine challenges faced by those in government public affairs in gaining the trust of both the media and the public at large.  In addition, Ms. Moloney will touch on how even after working at the White House, which can lead to careers in the corporate/lobbying sector for many, she chose to remain in a lower profile government positin, in part as a continued call to public service.

Leading from Behind (Mina Jones Jefferson).  When it comes to leadership, one size does not fit all.  The ability to influence outcomes and inspire others is something that each of us can do regardless of where we fall on the pecking order.  Whether it is strategic planning or helping others accomplish objectives, each of us has the opportunity to greatly impact our organizations..

Women in the Military/Male-dominated Professions (CDR Lee Anne Vitatoe).  CDR Lee Anne Vitatoe will be addressing some of the many issues that surround women in male-dominated professions.  Her experience is focused in the military, but it most certainly applies to the business world as well.  Her experience for the past 20 years will stimulate conversation and challenge you to think about women in the workforce in a new light.  Indeed, it is possible to be successful and balance family life and have the respect of your peers!

From BS to CEO: Women and Entrepreneurship (Sallie Ervin).  One in five American workers is employed by a woman-owned business, probably launched by a woman who didn't want to play by somebody else's rules.  Women start businesses at twice the rate men do, but for very different reasons.  This session deals with how you might go about launching a business and making your own rules.

Greek Letters Today, Great Leaders Tomorrow (Panel of Panhellenic Alumnae and Current Student Leaders).  Workshop presenters will share insight on lessons learned within student organizations and the Greek community and how these lessons are relevant in the job/internship search as well as life after college.  Panelists will also talk about ways to take advantage of opportunities on campus and within the Greek system to help in their aspiration to be future women leaders.
