Women's Leadership Celebration and Awards Program
The Women’s Leadership Celebration, an event hosted by the Women’s Center in collaboration with other offices and departments on campus, celebrates the leadership initiatives of women at Miami and furthers individual and community development around the topic of leadership.
A highlight of this event is the presentation of the Women's Leadership Awards. First presented in 1998 as the Women Breaking Barriers Awards, the Women's Leadership Awards recognize and honor women who go beyond the expected to make a difference on campus and/or in their communities. The Male Ally Award was added in 2007. The event also features a keynote presentation or panel focusing on an aspect of the broad topic of leadership.

Women of Color Celebration
The Women of Color Celebration was launched in 1992 as an event designed to bring people together to celebrate the cultural diversity and accomplishments of women of color in the University and in the larger community. Typically held in early March as a bridge between Black History Month (February) and Women's History Month (March), this event features a keynote speaker, student testimonials, international meal, awards ceremony, and scholarship presentation.
The Women of Color Celebration will return in 2013.

Women's Read-In:
Each year since 2007, the Women's Center and the Miami University Libraries have co-hosted a Women's Read-In as part of Women's History Month. In honor of the University's Bicentennial celebration and as a tribute to the writing and work of the late Suzanne H. Summers, the 2009 Read-In also featured a writing challenge around the theme of women's education, co-sponsored by the Roger and Joyce Howe Center for Writing Excellence. The 2010 Women's Read-In featured two hours of focused readings on LGBTQ issues and on women in STEM fields. The 2011 Read-In highlighted LGBTQ issues and Latina writers. The 2012 Women's Read-In will highlight women in the arts in observance of Miami's Year of the Arts.
