Academic Personnel (Janet Cox)

Human Resources (Marsha McIntosh)
- The summer hours for all 3 campuses have been announced and are posted on the Human Resources website.
- The Summer Sensations brochure – in a new format --will be distributed to all employees.
- The staff development workshop schedule for June through December will be out soon. The schedule includes new topics such as problem solving and decision making.
- Upcoming events:
- May 29 - WOW program
- June 15 - Retirement Investment Forum
- June 18 - Blood Drive (Sponsored by Benefit Services)
- The pilot program which was sponsored jointly by Benefit Services and Employee Health and Well-Being is being reviewed. This program introduced attendees to the many resources available through HR and EHWB. Once the provider for the University’s benefit plan is selected, a formal program will be developed for the fall.
- Marsha extended thanks to Matt Boaz for his service on the search committee for the HR Generalist position. Kerri Dabbs has accepted the position, effective May 1.
Senate (Amy Poppel)
- Passed the new University Mission Statement.
- Approved the Bachelor in Integrative Studies degree that will be offered on the regional campuses.
- Supported a recommendation made by Students for Staff with respect to providing a living wage to all university employees.
Academic Policy (Mary Bausano)

Benefits Committee (Janet Cox)
- The committee is reviewing data from the consulting firm to identify areas of improvement and cost reduction.
Networking (Doug Curry)
- Over 50 unclassified staff attended the April 18th Meet-and-Greet at the Miami Inn. Several members of the senior administrative staff were also present. The event was well received and it was suggested that a similar event be held every semester.
- Matt Boaz has some speakers lined up for next year’s luncheon programs.
Communications (Steve Gordon)
- Steve will be contacting people to get information for the next newsletter.
Old Business
- Emeriti issue is pending. Melanie Hoffmann and Matt Boaz will meet with Steve Snyder in the near future.
New Business
- Motion to recommend to the President the appointment of five individuals to UPAC was approved. New UPAC members are Vanessa Cummings, Sarah McNitt, LaTania Thomas, Peter Haverkos, and Frances Yates. They will be invited to attend the June UPAC meeting.
