The minutes of the December 2006, January 2007, and February 2007 meetings were approved.
Recommendations from the Benefits Committee regarding health care benefits were presented by representatives from that committee (Sanders, Hauser and Thomasson). In addition to modifications in the existing plan, a health savings account plan for employees is being considered. Details about the committee’s recommendations will be presented at a series of Open Forums on all three campuses the week of March 19.
Personnel (Marsha McIntosh)
- A Diversity Awareness pilot program will be offered in April. UPAC members interested in attending the pilot presentation are encouraged to contact Marsha.
Academic Personnel (Janet Cox)
- The search for Dean of the School of Fine Arts and Dean of the Graduate School are ongoing.
- Laurie Koehler has been appointed to the position of Director of Admissions. She will begin in mid-March.
Networking (Amy Lauer)
- Luncheon programs have been set for the remainder of the academic year. Jim Ewers will speak on March 20 and Curtis Ellison on April 10. Rod Nimtz is tentatively scheduled for October 2007.
Benefits Committee (Amy Lauer)
- Amy reminded UPAC members to forward any concerns/suggestions about benefi changes to her so that she can take them back to the committee.
- It was suggested that HR do more to encourage awareness and use of dependent care accounts and the flexible spending plan. In addition, there was a concern that the time of enrollment for the flexible spending plan occurs in the fall when most people do not have enough time to consider it thoughtfully.

- Janet Cox has produced a spreadsheet showing key contacts X University division.
Old Business
- Amy Poppel made arrangements for the UPAC breakfast on April 26.Two sessions — one at 8:00 and the other at 9:30 — will be offered. A light breakfast will be served. Carol Hauser has agreed to speak.
New Business
- Cheryl Newton, Bill Heck and Janet Cox will be attending the meeting with the parking consultants on March 6.
Next Business Meeting: Tuesday, April 3 on the Hamilton campus
