Maintenance & Repair
The Support Desk provides walk-in software and hardware repair for personally-owned computers as well as dispatch services for university-owned hardware repair.
Turnaround time can vary depending on time of the semester. Especially busy times are the beginning or end of a semester as well as immediately prior to and following holiday weekends/breaks.

- Stop by the IT Service Center at 317 Hughes Hall, west wing

Backup of your data is ultimately your responsibility. As a convenience add-on to other service, we will backup data on your behalf. Basic backup is for documents only. Full backup includes pictures, music, videos, etc.

1 Miami Notebook services are offered to registered computers of the Miami Notebook program. If the computer has not been registered, but was purchased from the University Bookstore as part of the Miami Notebook program, a sales receipt must be presented for assistance with registering the computer with the Miami Notebook program.
2 Availability of a loaner computer is not guaranteed. In rare instances, loaner demand may exceed the supply. To help avoid this situation, please consider having your laptop serviced at the time that the problem occurs; do not wait until the beginning or end of the semester, as this introduces a longer wait for repairs and, in some cases, a loaner may not be immediately available.

Institutional Computer Repair Services
- Warranty repair services are offered for Apple, Dell, and HP.
- Out-of-warranty repair service is performed on a best-effort basis.
- A $50 service charge is applied to a designated departmental account per incident in addition to any materials or shipping costs.
