Bring five advertisments to class that present interesting images that convey identities, which is to say, messages about how one "should" act or be.. Write one or two paragraphs analyzing your image. What expectations regulating people's behavior or ideas informing their tastes do these ads convey? Do those expectations or ideas affect people's sense of self -- that is, of who they are? What parts of these expectations and ideas seem reasonable to you, and what parts unreasonable? Be prepared to show and explain one of your images in class. |
