Welcome to the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Miami University, where our primary concern is teaching and research in the areas of the Spanish and Portuguese languages, their cultures, and the several literatures written in those languages. We offer a strong selection of courses in both Spanish and Latin American literature, linguistics and culture at the undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA) levels taught by dedicated teachers whose quality is sustained by continual intellectual and professional development. Our Portuguese offerings are growing, too, and for Fall, 2003, we have added Composition and Introduction to Literature.
