Mary Thew Fowler Scholarship

The Mary Fowler Scholarship is established to recognize academic excellence and research potential of undergraduate majors in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology. This scholarship is made possible by a donation from Mary T. Fowler, a graduate of Miami University.

Mary Fowler Scholarship selection will be based on the merits of a research proposal which the applicant submits to the Speech Pathology and Audiology faculty. Proposals must identify a faculty member who has agreed to direct the student in this project. The proposal will be evaluated on originality, importance of the profession, and feasibility of the investigation within the confines of one academic year. A $1000 fund has been set aside to cover research and travel expenses. It is hoped that the project will lead to a state or national presentation and/or publication.

Proposals must follow APA format for manuscript preparation, and be no more than three typed pages in length. Proposals must contain:

1. Statement of the problem.
2. Hypothesis.
3. Experimental procedure.
4. Proposed financial expenditures.
5. Proposed time frame which the investigator will follow.
6. Signature of the faculty member who will direct the project.

Three copies of this proposal must be delivered to the Chair of the department by February 15th of the preceding academic year of appointment. Questions should be directed to:
