Craniofacial Anomalies and Waardenburg Syndrome
Craniofacial Anomalies and Waardenburg Syndrome (WS) is Dr. Alice Kahn’s area of focus. WS is a rare (1/40,000) genetic condition that causes craniofacial anomalies and sensorineural hearing loss. Miami University provides free hearing evaluations for individuals with Waardenburg syndrome as part of an on-going research study. With the help of graduate students, Dr. Alice Kahn has developed a support website for individuals who have WS, and for professionals wishing to know more about the disorder. More than 25 WS families in seven countries have requested information from this website in the past two years. The site may be viewed here.
