Study Abroad in Europe through the InterGero Program
We are pleased to announce a new international study opportunity! Offered by the Department of Sociology and Gerontology, Miami students can learn about social and health policy in Spain, Germany, or the Netherlands, thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. A consortium of six schools developed a curriculum for the comparative study of health and social service systems, with a special focus on services and policies for aging populations.
The program is open to students with some lanuage proficiency and a strong interest in gerontology, public policy, and/or social systems. Students will receive a stipend of $4500 to help cover language and cultural preparation, as well as housing and transportation costs. Academic credit for the 12 to 16 week experience is granted through the Department of Sociology and Gerontology at Miami University. For more information, please contact Suzanne Kunkel at 529-2914 or kunkels@muohio.edu.

International Summer School Program at the University of Seoul
Students in sociology and gerontology might be particularly interested in this study abroad experience, which combines intensive Korean language courses with subject courses in various fields, including Korean culture, tradition, history, economy, and society. This program features several guided site visits, a unique Buddy Program where you will be matched with a Korean student, and a generous tuition and fee structure. Our department is not formally associated with the University of Seoul--however this program might be of special interest to our students hoping to expand their international edcuation.
