Sociology & Gerontology

The Department of Sociology and Gerontology

The Department of Sociology and Gerontology is a community of scholars engaged in the study of the social world and its inequalities.  Our faculty members represent different disciplinary identities and specialties, but we are united in our emphasis on engaged teaching, scholarship and service.  We value and promote the activist potential of the disciplines of sociology and gerontology.

We appreciate the generosity of our donors and invite you to donate to our-and your-department.  It is through your donations that we can continue to offer the kinds of excellent teaching, research opportunities and special programs that represent the best of our department.

Please take a few minutes and consider the valuable resources we offer to our students and help us continue these efforts with a gift.

There are several ways you can help us:

Unrestricted Gifts to the Department of Sociology and Gerontology

These gifts allow us to apply your gift to the area of greatest need.

Designated Gift to the Sherry Corbett Lecture Series

Consider a gift to our Sherry Corbett Lecture Series in honor of a distinguished and beloved former professor.

After her death, the Department established a lecture series in her name and due to the recent economic crisis, endowments that support this series have suffered.

Please contact Evan Lichtenstein at the Miami University Division of University Advancement at 513.529.1263 to find out how you can provide support for this lecture series.
