Completing an electronic MPN allows the student to receive federal loan funds very quickly. If a paper MPN is requested and completed by a student or parent, the disbursement of funds is delayed until the U.S. Department of Education receives and acknowledges the receipt of the paper MPN. The paper MPN process can delay the disbursement of funds up to two weeks from the point in which Miami University receives the completed MPN from the student or parent. Because of this delay in disbursement, Miami University recommends the electronic MPN process which can be completed at www.muohio.edu/loans.
