To be paid, you must register for payroll in the Office of Student Financial Assistance on the Oxford campus, or at the business office on your regional campus. Register for payroll as soon as you find a job so that you will receive the earliest possible paycheck.

You must register for payroll before you begin work for these two important reasons:

  1. To comply with the federal law requiring you to prove your eligibility for employment.
  2. To ensure that you are paid promptly and that contributions withheld for payroll deductions (i.e., taxes) and the state retirement system are correct.

When you find a job, your supervisor will give you a Student Employment Payroll Registration Form. Take the form and your required identifications, as shown below, with you to register for payroll. You will be asked to complete additional forms when you register.

Federal regulations require Miami to verify your identity and employment eligibility when you register for payroll. You will need to bring the following types of identification: either one item from List A or two items, one from List B and one from List C.
