Interested in making a difference? Miami is dedicated to helping students get involved through volunteering, community engagement, social action, and Service-Learning. You can serve by:
  1. Getting Involved based on your interests!
    • You can get involved in many ways - volunteering, Service-Learning, student organizations, social advocacy, and activism. These opportunities exist in the following social issue areas: children, education, hunger and nutrition, homelessness, poverty, older adults, animal welfare, the environment, and more!
  2. Tutoring K – 12 students through Adopt A School, America Reads, or America Counts!
    • Tutors work one on one, in small groups, or in a classroom setting in schools and after school programs. There are also opportunities to work with adults learning English or working toward their GED.
    • Adopt A School is a volunteer program. America Reads and America Counts are federal work study employment opportunities.
  3. Registering for a Service-Learning class to learn and gain real-world experience while improving the community.
    • Find Service-Learning courses by clicking here or by logging into Bannerweb, clicking “Look Up Classes to Add,” and selecting Service-Learning under Attribute Type.
  4. Joining a student organization and participating in their group service projects.
    • There are over 100 student organizations involved in service at Miami!
  5. Joining the Social Action Center!
    • Connect with other students and student groups interested in activism and advocacy.
