Description:
Nursing home data compiled by federal and state agencies for regulatory or reimbursement purposes could potentially be used by individual facilities to improve their performance. Because of the way this information is currently presented and the fragmented way it is received, however, it has proved thus far to be only minimally useful to most nursing homes. This demonstration project will fill an important gap in understanding how information on quality is currently delivered to nursing homes. Focusing on nursing homes in Ohio, it will integrate the various sources of information on quality available to Ohio's nursing homes-including resident and family surveys-to provide a comprehensive picture of facility performance. In addition, the project team will help the state's facilities learn to use these data to improve their services and care, providing a model for other states.
