Title: Intergero: Implementation of an International Interdisciplinary Program in Gerontology

         

Principal Investigators: S.R. Kunkel, & R.A. Applebaum

Description:

A consortium of six universities with strong gerontology programs will contribute to the development of a well-trained professional work force in the field of aging. Specifically, over the course of the three-year project, the consortium will:

•  Develop a curriculum for the comparative study of health and social services for older people.The curriculum will include classroom modules, teaching resources, web-based components, and guidelines for agency-based experiences. The curriculum will be valid for both U.S. and European academic credit systems.

•  Recruit, prepare, and send seven students from each university for international study based on the new curriculum and supervised experiences in social and health service agencies.

•  Support faculty involvement in international exchanges.

•  Evaluate and disseminate the curriculum module and the collaborative exchange model used in the project.
