Title: Intergero: Implementation of an International Interdisciplinary Program in Gerontology
Principal Investigators: S.R. Kunkel, & R.A. Applebaum
Description:
A consortium of six universities with strong gerontology programs will contribute to the development of a well-trained professional work force in the field of aging. Specifically, over the course of the three-year project, the consortium will:
Develop a curriculum for the comparative study of health and social services for older people. The curriculum will include classroom modules, teaching resources, web-based components, and guidelines for agency-based experiences. The curriculum will be valid for both U.S. and European academic credit systems.
Recruit, prepare, and send seven students from each university for international study based on the new curriculum and supervised experiences in social and health service agencies.
Support faculty involvement in international exchanges.
Evaluate and disseminate the curriculum module and the collaborative exchange model used in the project.
