Title: If We Maintain the Status Quo, What Will Ohio's Future Demand be for Formal Long-Term Care Services?
Principal Investigator: Shahla Mehdizadeh
Other team members: Denise Brothers-McPhail, Suzanne
Kunkel, Neal
Ritchey, & Valerie Wellin
Description: This
project will explore the future demand for formal
long-term care services in Ohio and the public
and private costs of providing such services if
Ohio's disabled population continues to use the
system as they currently do.
We will project the number of people in Ohio with self-care, mental health, and MRDD disabilities for the years 2005 to 2020, and estimate the number of persons with such disabilities who will seek formal long-term care services in the future --assuming that people with disabilities will follow current long-term care use patterns.
Three reports will be released based on this research.
1. Disability in Ohio: Current and Future Demand for Services will be available on May 16, 2008.
2. Disability in Ohio: Long-Term Care Settings & Services will be available at a later date.
3. Disability in Ohio: Scenarios That Could Alter Future Long-Term Care Demand will also be available at a later date.
Funding Agency: The Ohio Long-Term Care Research Project
