Karisha Wilcox
|
Karisha A. Wilcox will complete her master’s degree in gerontology from Miami University in 2008. She received her bachelor’s degree in gerontology with a minor in health administration from Ithaca College and her associate’s degree in general studies from Tompkins Cortland Community College. Her current research interests cover the person-environment perspective or environmental gerontology. She is curious about how the physical environment, both built and natural, affects interaction by older adults. Categories of relevance are aging in place, universal design, home modification, technology in the home and community design. It is of great importance for her to encompass shaping environments to fit age related losses. For her thesis she is pursuing the relationship between older adults and future designers/planners and their perception of what a livable community is.
