The Miami University Student Health
Service laboratory offers lab testing for both students seen by SHS
clinicians and those with orders from their home physicians. Outside
orders must be written request for specific tests and include a
diagnostic code. Results will be faxed to ordering physician
with the student's written permission.
The SHS laboratory is CLIA certified and staffed by two full-time
licensed medical technologists and a licensed medical laboratory
technician.
Many common laboratory tests are performed “in-house” including
strep tests, mono tests, urinalysis, blood counts and pregnancy
tests. The SHS lab staff will collect specimens and
forward them to our reference laboratory for those tests not
performed in our laboratory.
The laboratory is open during regular health service hours
Monday-Friday from 8 am - 4:30 pm. Summer hours may vary.
