The
Student Health Service provides comprehensive outpatient care
including examination and treatment for illness and minor injuries,
laboratory, x-ray, and pharmacy services and specialty care in
orthopedics, physical therapy, gynecology, and immunizations.
The Student
Health Service staff includes physicians, a physician assistant,
nurse practitioners, an L.P.N., four registered nurses, and
registered medical assistants in addition to staff in the specialty
areas and appropriate support staff.
Students are seen at the Student Health Service by appointment or on
a walk-in basis. We encourage students to call for an appointment.
When checking in or calling for an appointment, students will be
assigned to a clinician based on availability. However, if students
have a preference they are free to choose the practitioner he/she
wishes to see.
Holding beds are maintained for
observation and diagnostic studies. After hour, overnight and
emergency care are available at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in
Oxford accessed
through the emergency room.
The Student
Health Service is available for registered Miami University
students, regardless of the student's medical insurance coverage.
Students are charged fees for
clinician visits, for laboratory, x-ray procedures, pharmaceuticals
and other miscellaneous items.
Student should check-in at the
“Reception/Records” window with their Miami University Student ID
card for verification of eligibility.
After checking in, a student will be sent directly to the
appropriate clinic area. Walk-ins will be scheduled for an
appointment for the next available time. |
