General Medicine

The Student Health Service provides comprehensive outpatient care including examination and treatment for illness and minor injuries, laboratory, x-ray, and pharmacy services and specialty care in orthopedics, physical therapy, gynecology, and immunizations.
 

The Student Health Service staff includes physicians, a physician assistant, nurse practitioners, an L.P.N., four registered nurses, and registered medical assistants in addition to staff in the specialty areas and appropriate support staff. Students are seen at the Student Health Service by appointment or on a walk-in basis. We encourage students to call for an appointment. When checking in or calling for an appointment, students will be assigned to a clinician based on availability. However, if students have a preference they are free to choose the practitioner he/she wishes to see.
 

Holding beds are maintained for observation and diagnostic studies. After hour, overnight and emergency care are available at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford accessed through the emergency room.
 

The Student Health Service is available for registered Miami University students, regardless of the student's medical insurance coverage.
 

Students are charged fees for clinician visits, for laboratory, x-ray procedures, pharmaceuticals and other miscellaneous items.
 

Student should check-in at the  “Reception/Records” window with their Miami University Student ID card for verification of eligibility.
 

After checking in, a student will be sent directly to the appropriate clinic area. Walk-ins will be scheduled for an appointment for the next available time.
