The Student Health Service offers FREE,
anonymous HIV counseling and testing to graduate and undergraduate
students. The initial consultation is scheduled during morning
hours. These appointments include an educational session covering
routes of transmission of HIV, risk factors, ways to protect
yourself and an opportunity to ask questions about HIV and sexual
health.
You may want to get an HIV test if
you:
- Have engaged in unprotected sex
- Have had sex with multiple
partners
- Are beginning a new relationship
- Are planning overseas travel
- Desire peace of mind
After the initial conversation with
the clinician the student is sent to the lab for the test. We are
now using the OraQuick test, which entails a finger prick for a
blood sample and takes one hour to process. When the results are
available, the student is able to schedule an appointment with the
clinician to find out the results. No test result will be given out
over the phone.
To schedule an appointment:
- Call the Student Health Service at
513-529-3000.
- Request to schedule a HIV test.
- You will be given a set time and instructions on how to get to the clinician's
office when you arrive at the SHS.
- When you come in for the test, do
not stop at the front office. Go directly to the room number that
was given to you by the person on the phone.
- Have a seat
outside the room number and the clinician will be with you
shortly.
