H1N1 Update
Miami University, like many other campuses, has seen numerous cases of influenza-like illness, which we are advised by the Centers for Disease Control to count as probable cases of H1N1.
In addition to posting and emailing communications about symptoms and treatment, Miami has taken several actions to deal with H1N1 virus.
- The Office of Health Education has initiated a large H1N1 prevention campaign, in collaboration with the Office of Residence Life.
- Student Health Services has modified appointment schedules and added Saturday hours during flu season to handle an increase in sick students.
- The provost has provided guidance to faculty on dealing with absenteeism in the classroom.
- Hand sanitizer stations have been distributed at the entrances to residence and dining halls as well as in computer labs.
- The Health Emergency Planning Task Force has been meeting and has prepared a revised Health Emergency response plan for the President’s Executive Council.
- The Parents Office has included information for parents in the Parent Newsletter.
- Students are able to get meals for others who are ill more easily.
For details on the University's communications and actions see Miami's Response to H1N1.
