U-Lead Adventure

The U-Lead Adventure is an annual leadership institute for first year students. U-Lead introduces first year students to Miami's Leadership Commitment (MLC) through a series of small group sessions and low-ropes initiatives, facilitated by current students and staff. Participants also have the opportunity to challenge themselves on a high-ropes course on the second day of the institute. U-Lead is a great way for first year students to jumpstart their college experience and begin to develop their own definition of leadership. The institute focuses on ten shared leadership values that form the foundation of Miami's Leadership Commitment:

•  Think critically and take time to reflect

•  Be flexible and open to change

•  Take purposeful risks and learn from success and/or failure

•  Be responsible for your actions

•  Communicate directly, honestly, and with civility

•  See potential within yourself

•  Respect the dignity and potential of others

•  Understand and serve the needs of others

•  Celebrate and embrace diversity

•  Support and challenge each other to live by these values
