The Leadership Connection

What is the Leadership Connection?

Do you ever feel as though your organization members do not communicate well? Need creative ideas to publicize your upcoming events? Looking to provide a smooth transition between officers? Do you know where you want your organization to go? Do you want your members to work together better? Want to know how to get things done on campus? Looking to increase your effectiveness as a leader?

If so, The Leadership Connection is for you!

The Leadership Connection is a resource designed to meet the needs of all student organizations and leaders. Whether you feel completely lost with your organization, or are looking to enhance and build your organization from where you are, all student organizations and leaders (clubs, fraternities and sororities, Hall Councils, sports teams, etc.) will benefit from leadership development workshops.

The Leadership Connection will provide you with an opportunity to address your organization's needs through an interactive and engaging presentation. There are two different types of Leadership Connections workshops. Your organization can request a Leadership Connections workshop on a specific topic. Information about this is below in the "How to Plan a Presentation" section. The Office of Student Activities and Leadership also offers monthly workshops on different topics. Information about the next workshop can be found below under the "Monthly Connection" section.

The Leadership Connection easily connects you to a variety of resources and presenters, including faculty, Student Affairs staff, students and community members.

Monthly Connection

The Monthly Connection from Leadership Connection is a (roughly) once-a-month workshop where we will offer a workshop open to all individuals. These workshops will cover issues that face many student organizations.

Effectively Working With Your Student Organization Advisor

The November, 2009 Leadership Connections workshop will be held on Thursday, November 12 in McGuffey Room 322. It will be facilitated by Buffy Stoll and Kathy Jicinsky from the Office of New Student Programs. For more information visit the Monthly Connections Website.

How to Plan a Presentation

  1. Check out the workshop topics available;
  2. Submit a request form 2 weeks in advance of the dates you want. This will ensure that The Leadership Connection Coordinator has time to process your request effectively;
  3. Click on the presentation request form;
  4. Fill out your contact information, potential dates and topic of interest;
  5. The Leadership Connection Coordinator will review your program request and follow-up with any questions. The coordinator will then locate a presenter who meets your organization's needs;
  6. The presenter will contact your organization to set a specific date, time and location, as well as review the topics you would like to include in your session. This is your opportunity to tailor make the program for your organization!
