Advisors
A student organization must have at least one adviser. Advisers should be members of the faculty or staff, this being considered as a part of their service to the University. Exceptions may be granted by the Office of Student Activities and Organization Leadership or, in the case of sports clubs, by the Office of Recreational Sports. While encouraged to be actively involved in the affairs of the organization, advisers are minimally expected to:
- attend periodic meetings of the organization
- provide guidance to the officers and members in the organization's plans, programs, and activities
- approve the organization's requests for University space, budget, and other such request forms as necessary
- serve as a resource to the organization for information about University policies
It is expected that officers and members will utilize fully the services of their adviser. Guidance for advisers and organizations is available from the Office of Student Activities and Leadership or from the Office of Recreational Sports for sports clubs.
For more information, please refer to the Advisors Handbook.
