Currently Recruiting Volunteers!

November 16 & 17, 2010

1:00pm - 9:00pm

Boyd Hall on Western Drive

Dear Miami Community Member,

Tunnel of Oppression will take place on November 16th & 17th from 1:00pm - 9:00pm in Boyd Hall this year. This is an exciting program with the potential to significantly impact participants, and all those involved, but to organize this campus-wide program we need YOUR HELP !

'How can we do that?' you might ask!

Well, there are several ways to get involved:

  1. Tour Guide - This will involve giving approximately 30 minute tours to the participants of Tunnel of Oppression.

  2. Facilitation Leader (Advisory and Central Staff) - There will be three break-out rooms for group processing after they go through the Tunnel. Faciliation leaders will be leading the group in an engaging discussion about their experience and help participants develop skills to help stop oppression on Miami's campus. 3 faciliators are needed for each hour that Tunnel runs.

  3. Setup/Tear down - This will involve making sure everything is ready to go for Tunnel of Oppression, and help clean up after the night. We need approximately 3-4 people on Monday & Tuesday Noon - 1pm, and 9-10pm for this role.

  4. Floaters - This will involve a variety of roles from check-in tables, in charge of hospitality room, traffic control, and anywhere else where help is needed.

All shifts except for setup/tear down will be on an hour basis starting at 3pm and ending at 9pm. Please discuss these volunteer opportunities with your organizations, groups, community councils, and RAs and email Maulik Khatadia by November 9th with:

·  Name

·  Date & time of availability to volunteer for the Tunnel

·  Preferences for how you want to help out (e.g. floater, tour guide, etc.) for those interested.

There will be a

Volunteer Training Meeting on Monday, Nov 15 at 7pm in Boyd Hall.

Every volunteer has to attend the training meeting.

In case multiple members of your organization, council, or building wants to volunteer, please send one email with all the required information.

For more information, please feel free to contact Maulik Khatadia at khatadm@muohio.edu

Thanks for all the amazing work you are doing and will do in the future to help educate our students!
