The mission of the Scholar Leader program is to establish a proactive, supportive community dedicated to enhancing leadership and scholarship among its members and the broader university community. The Scholar Leader program is a residential living-learning program involving a one year residence in Elliott or Stoddard Halls, two of the most historic residence halls in the nation.
The Scholar Leader program is unique in that it is the only residence hall living-learning community which can do what it does: resident guided programming, academic involvement, large-scale service learning projects and much more. Much of what the Scholar Leader program does is guided by The Miami Leadership Commitment.
With the growing number of Miami students who are studying abroad, conducting off-campus research, or participating in other enriching experiences, the selection committee is increasingly working to find students who can trade out between the two semesters of the year so that 1/2 year experiences can be accommodated. A full year residence is preferred but every effort will be made to remain flexible in selection so that all students can be involved, regardless of other program participation.
Those interested in the Scholar Leader program must have applied by December 6, 2006. Come back for more details about the interview process after January 8, 2007.
