It was great to be able to continue to pursue my interest in the arts, without having to major in art or music at Miami.

Residents of the Celebrate the Arts Living Learning Community will expand, educate, and explore interests and involvement in the arts through co-curricular experiences in an effort to foster a life-long commitment to the arts.

Students in this community will:

  • Identify opportunities available to explore the arts at Miami University and the greater community. (Effective Community Engagement)
  • Recognize art as a way to explore and enhance one's self. (Intrapersonal Development)
  • Positively interact with the School of Fine Arts faculty, staff, and/or visiting artists. (Academic Success)
  • Create experiences to learn about historical, sociological, and cultural influence on the arts (Cultural Competency)

Only 37% of the students living in Celebrate the Arts Community are majors within the School of Fine Arts.

The majority of the students are in other academic disciplines who have an appreciation for the arts.

Upperclass Student Mentors

In addition to first-year students, Celebrate the Arts is also home to a group of sophomores who have been selected to return to the community to provide guidance, support, and mentoring to the first-year students of the community.  These engaged, passionate students, in partnership with the staff of Collins Hall, will help students make the transition to Miami.
