Where is the Commuter Center located and what are the hours?
The Commuter Center is located in 100 Shriver Center. We are located on the first floor, next door to the housing and dining office and near Haines Food Court. Click here for a map of the location. The Commuter Center's hours are 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM Monday through Friday during the Fall and Spring Semesters. When the Shriver Center is closed for holidays or breaks, the Commuter Center is also closed.
How much do locker rentals cost, and how long can you keep them?
The Commuter Center offers both keyed and combination lockers. You can keep your locker all academic year. If you will not be returning for the next semester, you need to return your key at the end of the semester. As long as you return your key or lock, there is no charge. If you do not return them, then there will be a $25.00 fee placed on your bursar's account.
Where are dining locations close to the Commuter Center?
There are three places to get food located in the Shriver Center. Haines Food Court serves pizza, pasta, deli sandwiches, and burgers. The second place to get food is Spring Street Market. “The market” has pre-packaged items such as frozen pizza, sandwiches, snacks, and drinks. The third dining location in the Shriver Center is Tuffy's. Tuffy's serves ice cream, smoothies, and coffee. The Commuter Center has a microwave and refrigerator, so you can bring in and cook your own food as well. Click here for the Haines Food Court menu, Tuffy's menu, or Spring Street Market's menu.
What do staff members in the Commuter Center office do?
The graduate advisor academically advisees first year students and supervises the Commuter Center as a whole. The Commuter Assistants are undergraduate commuter students. They work with the advisor to oversee the operations of the Commuter Center. They plan programs that are relevant to commuter students and work to make every student feel welcome. They also assist the advising process, supervise Commuter Council, and update the website and blackboard site.
What is there to do in the Commuter Center? .
There are many things to do in the Center. Many days, students bring in video games to hook up to the big screen TV. Students play card games, board games, and just hang out. There are also computers with a print station (there is a small cost to print and you must have money on your student ID in order to print). How do I get involved in the Commuter Center?
There are several ways to get involved in the Commuter Center. The easiest way to get involved in the Commuter Center is to participate in Commuter Council. Commuter Council is the student organization that represents commuter students. Also, by signing up for our Blackboard site, you can keep in touch with what is happening in the Center and be the first to know when events will be happening.
