Program Schedule:

(Before the beginning of the program - evening prayers prayed in prayer room on upper level of Lights on Campus.)

8:00 Welcome, statement of the goals for the evening, and a program layout by Whittney Barth

8:10 (allowing for delayed start) people begin to quietly get food from the buffet with those fasting getting food first.

8:15 As people get food, the three speakers (all of who are students) briefly (5 minutes) explain their tradition and connection to the event:

  • Junaid Farooqi speaks on Ramadan and fasting.

  • Diogo Metz speaks for 5 minutes on Judaism and fasting as well as the current holiday of Sukkot

  • Alex Mikelovitch speaks for 5 minutes on the customs of fasting with the Christian traditions.

8:30 Participants continue to eat and talk with each other at their tables, getting to know others who are different from themselves. Discussion starter cards will be on each table to facilitate conversation when necessary.
