Trashcans

  • ALL garbage must be in cans. WITH LIDS securely fastened.
  • NO PLASTIC BAGS OR BOXES OF GARBAGE can be standing outside cans.
  • Refuse is limited to 10 container or items per week. If your unit is using multiple trashcans, you might consider the larger waste wheeler which is available through the Oxford Utility Department at 524-5221.
  • Can weight matters—60 pound limit. If you can’t lift it, it’s too heavy.
  • Large items, such as a couch or chair, will be taken if set at the curb with cans.
  • Rumpke won’t take construction materials. No wood, cinder blocks, cabinets, carpet, etc.

Litter on Property

  • Residents are responsible for maintaining the property where they live. NO MATTER HOW THE LITTER GOT THERE.
  • Yards, driveways, sidewalks and street lawns (area of grass and trees between the public sidewalk and the street curb), are to be kept litter free.
  • DON’T FORGET under bushes, beside & behind the house, on porch.
  • Party litter/trash must be cleaned up immediately following a party. Better yet, reduce your work and ask the party-goers to properly dispose of cans, bottles, plates, etc. PROVIDE PLENTY OF TRASH CONTAINERS FOR THIS PURPOSE.

Use the Red Bin (picture of one)

  • Each residence with 4 units or fewer may recycle at the curb. Each unit in the residence should have a red bin for recycling.
  • If a red bid is not left at your location, call the Oxford Utility Division at 524-5221 to request one.
  • There is no additional fee for this service.

Pick-up Day

  • Recycling is collected on the same day as your household trash collection.
  • Place the recycle bin by your garbage cans on your scheduled pickup day.
  • If you have materials to recycle in excess of what fits in the bin, you may use a regular garbage can if the word RECYCLE appears prominently on the container.
Note: The red container belongs to Rumpke Recycling and should be left at the residence when a customer moves out.
