January Orientation for New First Year and Transfer Students
January 2009
Welcome and congratulations on your acceptance to Miami University-Oxford. We are excited that you have chosen the Oxford campus to pursue your academic and personal goals. We encourage you to take full advantage of the many opportunities for intellectual and personal growth the campus offers. The first step to becoming acquainted with your new community is to participate in the January Orientation Program.
A postcard will be mailed to all new first year and transfer students once the confirmation deposit has been received by Miami University. All new first year students beginning coursework in January are required to attend the January Orientation and Registration Program. Transfer students who have not yet received academic advising and registered for classes, the January Orientation Program allows you the opportunity to do so.
To assist families in transition and to help support students, we offer a family program. The family orientation program for family members of all students: new first year and transfer will take place in January 2009. The academic advising and registration portion of the program is limited to students only.

Transfer Students: It is highly recommended that you take both the math and foreign language placement tests one week prior to attending January Orientation.
Test results help you and your adviser determine the appropriate classes for you to take. Taking a placement test via the web is an easy process. Read about the tests and then follow the directions. Upon completion of the placement tests, log on to retrieve your results. Bring your results with you to Orientation.

You will receive detailed information regarding pre-semester dining options when you pick up your room key.
