The Office of New Student Programs assists new first year and transfer sudents in the transition to Miami University. Orientation provides you the opportunity to learn about Miami’s intellectual climate, receive academic advising, register for courses, introduce you to campus life, meet other new and current students, and become familiar with campus resources.
New first year students accepted for the fall term can attend either the Summer or August Orientation and Registration Program (first year students accepted for the spring term attend the January Orientation and Registration Program). Transfer students attend either the August or January Orientation and Registration Program that corresponds to their first semester in Oxford.
We believe all persons at Miami, particularly new students to campus should:
- Understand that gaining knowledge is the highest priority of all members of this community;
- Develop friendships that contribute to intellectual and personal growth;
- Embrace diversity – particularly differences in backgrounds and viewpoints – as a way of enhancing their intellectual and personal growth;
- Take responsibility for helping to ensure the safety, health, and well being of themselves and others in the community;
- Help make Miami, Oxford, and the communities beyond Oxford better places.
