Training Responsibilities
All RLC Tutors complete training in the form of EDT 310: Methods for Tutoring Adults, a one-credit hour course. This credit/no credit course is designed to provide tutors with an understanding of the mission and goals of the Learning Center as well as the expectations for tutors. Tutors learn how to identify learning problems, work effectively with diverse learners and use strategies to meet individual learning needs. This is a required course for Learning Center tutors. By completing the course Tutors become certified by the College Reading and Learning Association.
Tutors enrolled in the course meet five times during the semester for in-class instruction. The remainder of the course is completed via four Blackboard assignments.
