Mission and Overview

Academic Coaching is a conversational process between a student and a trained learning specialist (coach) that reinforces student behavior leading to effective performance. The purpose of coaching is to enhance a student's ability to redirect behavior to improve performance and encourage new behavior to support development.
Academic coaching involves regular one-to-one meetings between the coach and the student. Meetings will help students to navigate the University system, develop and monitor progress toward appropriate goals, and make conscious and informed decisions about their education. In addition, coaches can help students develop effective organizational skills, learning strategies, and personal management techniques.
