CALENDAR & EVENTS

ANNUAL MIAMI EVENTS

National Fellowships Symposium
provides advice for applying to prestigious national scholarships and fellowships such as the Rhodes, Marshall, Truman and Fulbright Scholarships. It usually occurs in October or November.
Perlmutter Leadership Conference
This Conference is held each fall semester and enables student participants to get to know one another and learn more about the other leadership programs included as part of "Miami's Leadership Commitment."  A keynote speaker who is a national expert on leadership is featured each year. Students must register in order to ensure participation in the event. For more information contact Vanessa Braun.
Senior Last Lecture
The purpose of this event is to provide the graduating class the opportunity to reflect on the leadership values and experiences they have learned and shared together during their time at Miami. The event is funded through the Etheridge Center for Reflective Leadership and the Miami University Alumni Association. Alumni place a high value on recognizing and developing leadership potential in the students who follow them through the decades. The Last Lecture represents an ongoing commitment to share the wisdom of generations of Redhawks. Senior Last Lectures are available as the cumulative wisdom of the years.
Undergraduate Research Forum
occurs in mid-April each year and provides the opportunity for Miami undergraduate students to present their research findings in oral or poster sessions.
Wilks High School Leadership Conference
is held each spring and provides leadership training to over 100 high students in the region.
Women’s Leadership Celebration

The Women’s Leadership Celebration provides an opportunity for all individuals to enhance their leadership through focused exploration of those ways of knowing and leading most often attributed to women.  Coordinated by the Women’s Center with support from several offices, the Women’s Leadership Celebration strives to celebrate both the relational and individual strength of women. Through facilitating connections with others, this event promotes an appreciation for the historical and contemporary struggles of women and provides an opportunity to honor today’s women leaders and inspire hope for tomorrow’s leaders.  The event consists of a luncheon, keynote speaker or panel and the Women’s Leadership and Male Ally Awards.  For more information or to get involved, contact Jane Goettsch.

Greek Leadership Conference
The Greek Leadership Advance is held annually at an off-campus site. The Advance allows representatives from all of Maimi's fraternal organizations to get acquainted, exchange ideas about how to enhance these organizations, and come back to campus to make a difference. For more information, please contact the Assistant Director of the Cliff Alexander Office Tillie B. Good.
Greek Foundations Series
Foundations is a six-week leadership series designed for sophomores and juniors. The series covers a variety of leadership issues within the context of the Miami Greek experience in a highly interactive manner. Through participation, students develop their own philosophy on leadership, engage in critical discussions about leadership and the Greek Experience, enhance skills such as consensus building and collaboration, and begin the process of implementing change within their chapters and the Greek community. Sophomores and Juniors interested should contact the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Leadership at 513-529-1462.
