Spectrum’s mission is to create a positive environment at Miami University for students of all sexualities and to promote issues of diversity on campus. Spectrum's focus is on undergraduate students, although everyone is welcome at our meetings. Through education and outreach, Spectrum welcomes all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions to:
- Participate in weekly meetings every Wednesday @ 7pm, in 336 Shriver.
- Assist in organizing and celebrating Awareness Week, and National Coming Out Day.
- Co-sponsor events with various organizations and departments.
- Join us for our drag shows, and help us raise money for charity.
- Participate in regional and national conferences to bring educational information and materials back to our campus.
Pride Panels
Spectrum is responsible for coordinating the Pride Panels, one of our most visible programs. A panel is an opportunity to hear Miami students share their experiences as part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allied community. Panelists will answer audience questions and offer their perspectives in a one-hour session. Available for any class, residence hall, organization, or department. Drag Shows
Twice a semester, Spectrum sponsors drag shows that raise money for various charities. In the past, beneficiaries have included The Trevor Project and Miami's work in Haiti. Most performers are current Miami students, and the shows attract a wide range of students, community members, faculty, and staff.
