Miami University Police Department (MUPD)

The MUPD is a knowledgeable team, competent in their assessment of anti-gay and other bias-motivated hate crimes. GLBTQ Services has an open dialogue with MUPD to ensure the safety of all members of the Miami University community. For non-emergency calls, dial 513-529-2222 to speak with the dispatcher. The MUPD jurisdiction is limited to campus grounds, and non-emergencies off-campus should contact the Oxford Police Department at 513-523-4321. All emergency calls should be directed to 911 for immediate assistance.

The Bias Incident Reporting Form provides the entire Miami University community a mechanism for reporting incidents involving acts of hate or bias due to age, ancestry, color, disability, sex or gender identity, pregnancy, national origin, race, religious belief, sexual orientation, military or veteran status. This form should not be used if you are currently in a situation where immediate medical, police, psychological, or other emergency services are needed. In case of an emergency, call 911 to get the appropriate services. Only use this form in non-emergency situations.

Community Counseling and Crisis Center

The Community Counseling and Crisis Center offers counseling to members of the Oxford community, regardless of university affiliation. In addition to these services, a 24-hour crisis hot-line is available by dialing 513-524-4146. Hot-line personnel are well trained and have extensive resources available to help in many situations.

Oxford Community Relations Commission

The commission is charged with the responsibility of studying, investigating, conducting public meetings and public hearings relative to any and all matters of factual situations wherein there is the possibility of the existence of discriminatory practices or prejudice or discrimination which in any manner could conceivably result in any degree of deprivation of the civil rights of any person within the City of Oxford.

Coursework

Consider choosing WMS 2 "Scholarly Studies of Gender and Sexuality" for your thematic sequence. This program examines the forces that impact non-normative genders and sexualities.
