About GLBTQ Services
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Services was created in the fall of 2003. As part of the Office of Diversity Affairs, GLBTQ Services is committed to enhancing the Miami University community both inside and outside of the classroom.
Everyone is welcome to visit GLBTQ Services to seek information or just say hello. No assumptions about your gender identity or sexual orientation will be made.
Our primary goal is to provide education, advocacy, support, and safe spaces for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and straight-allied students. Through its services, GLBTQ Services presents educational, cultural, and social opportunities for the Miami University community to challenge intolerance and to create a more hospitable, accepting campus climate for all.
Some of our services include:
- Providing information, referrals, educational pamphlets, and coming out resources.
- Providing resources to fulfill the unique needs of GLBTQ students.
- Maintaining an up-to-date calendar of events of interest for GLBTQ students and their allies.
- Maintaining a dialogue with university administrators regarding campus climate and any incidents that occur.
- Organizing panels, forums, presentations, trainings, and interviews for classes, residence halls, staff and administrators.
- Coordinating work with academic departments, while celebrating the scholarship of Miami’s GLBTQ faculty, staff, students and allies.
