The Adopt A School Program was initiated in the fall of 1989, when the Greek Community came to aid the Talawanda School District in their efforts to maintain excellent educational programs for the community's young people. Since that time, the program has continued to grow and Miami University students, both Greek and non-Greek, continue to profoundly impact the Oxford community through their service and dedication.
The Adopt A School Program is designed for Miami University students who wish to actively volunteer (minimum commitment of one hour per week) in the local schools and interact with students in grades K – 12. Adopt A School volunteers can assist teachers and other school personnel in the classroom, in the lunch room, on the playground, or wherever they are needed most. They also have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child by interacting with children one-on-one and helping them to achieve their goals in school.
