Comprehensive Commitment to Foster Leadership Capacity
A commitment to develop the leadership potential in all students requires a breadth of programs that goes far beyond the boundaries of one office or entity of the University. This pervasive emphasis has been made possible through the generosity of many Miami alumni and friends. The combination of scholarship funding, program endowments, and other resources totals over $10,000,000, one of the largest endowments for leadership anywhere in U.S. higher education. How the pieces of the puzzle fit together is described in a comprehensive commitment summary.

Leadership Resource Center
Located in the Hanna House, the Student Leadership Resource Center houses hundreds of books, as well as videos and other resources on leadership and service, in a comfortable atmosphere ideal for browsing. The resource room is also available for small group seminars, brown bag lunches, etc. Please call the office, 529-2961, to reserve the space.

Student Affairs Outreach Van
The Student Affairs Outreach Van is available free of charge to Miami students wishing to engage in community service or service learning opportunities. To request the use of the van, complete the initial portions of the Trip Panning Packet, available in the Hanna House, and return it as far in advance of the trip as possible. Requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Leadership
The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Leadership works to provide students associated with the Greek community an out of the classroom experience which supports the educational goals of the University. The Office of Greek Affairs is committed to the students, the organizations, and to the self-governing process by which they run. Office location: 356 Shriver Center; Telephone: 529-1462; Website: http://www.muohio.edu/FSLL

The Office of Community Engagement & Service
The Office of Service Learning and Civic Leadership augments classroom learning by offering substantive curricular and co-curricular programs and services. Staff who work in this office believe that "leadership" is a process that attracts interested and enthusiastic students. Instead of viewing leadership solely as positional and limited to a select few, staff use leadership programs as mechanisms to allow students to develop their own leadership values in ways that positively impact their own life and the experiences they share with others. For this reason, most of the activities sponsored by the office are open to any student who strives to make a difference. Office Location: Hanna House by the CAB Building; Telephone: 529-2961; Website: http://www.muohio.edu/servicelearning

Student Activities and Leadership
The Office of Student Activities and Leadership supports Miami's 300+ student clubs and organizations as they provide broad recreational, cultural, and educational programs throughout the year. Two major student organizations that provide much of the campus-wide programming are the Campus Activities Council and the Shriver Center Program Board; these are both advised by staff in Student Activities and Leadership. All student clubs and organizations must register in the Office and mailboxes are provided to assist with the distribution of announcements, memos, and other resources. Student Activities and Leadership registers table tents, provides guidelines for campus publicity, provides reservations for some campus facilities, and maintains the on-line activities calendar on the Miami homepage. The staff in Student Activities and Leadership are actively involved in the development of leadership potential through not only their logistical and advisory support; they serve as the catalysts for the Annual Student Leadership Conference, they prepare newsletters and materials to encourage participation in leadership, and they frequently serve on the staff of LeaderShape Miami. Student Activities and Leadership is a key resource to the overwhelming number of students who are actively involved on the Miami campus and beyond. Office Location: 356
Shriver Center; Telephone: 529-2266; Website: http://www.units.muohio.edu/saf/sac/

Leadership Connections - Responsive Leadership Development
The offices in the Student Leadership, Campus and Community Life work together to provide responsive leadership development experiences for Miami students. A variety of topics and formats are available for any group to survey and then those involved decide what they need. The best way to do this is to get your advisor's suggestions, talk with the leadership team of your organization, and then go to our web site to see what's available. Use one of the topics and facilitators already available or let us know and we'll try to create something for you. For more information, ask for "Leadership Connections" when you call the Student Activities and Organization Leadership Office in 356 Shriver; Telephone 529-2266; Website: http://www.muohio.edu/leadershipconnection
