Course Description
This year long experience will start by constructing a base of outdoor leadership theory, backcountry skills, and cultural investigations of Argentina. Classroom skills and knowledge will then be implemented and further explored on a two-week trip to Argentina from Dec. 28, 2011 to Jan. 08, 2012. Students will participate in a multi-day backpack experience through the Patagonia region and demonstrate leadership skills learned in the fall semester. In addition, students will investigate the cultural diversity of this Latin American country by exploring the capital city of Buenos Aires and participating in traditional meals, dance, language, and other activities. In the spring, students will utilize the outdoor leadership theories, models, and skills learned in HON 281 and implement them by planning and facilitating weekend-long, outdoor leadership experiences for other students in the Honors community.
Fee includes: All air and ground transportation in Argentina, outdoor activities, accommodations, cultural events, equipment and staff. (Does not include international airfare).
