RECREATIONAL SPORTS CENTER LOST AND FOUND POLICY

It is inevitable that members and guests may misplace or forget personal property in our facilities. Through the following policy, we will make every attempt to safeguard lost property and make it available to the rightful owner. Miami University and the Recreational Sports Center are not responsible for lost, stolen, or unclaimed items.

Valuables (wallets, ID cards, credit cards, watches, IPods, etc.)

•All valuable items will be kept at the Pro Shop.

• An immediate effort should be made to contact the owner of the valuable property by phone or email if the items state the name of the owner. We will use a directory or other resource to locate contact information. We will tag the property with a ticket number and record all information. We will put the property in the designated secure location.

• When contacting a patron, inform them that their property will be held for two (2) weeks and urge them to claim it at their earliest convenience.

• Wallets, ID cards, Credit Cards and Valuables will be kept for up to two (2) weeks, and processed out monthly.

• Miami ID cards will be sent by campus mail to Miami ID Services in the Campus Avenue Building.

• Wallets, Credit Cards and any other valuables will be taken to Miami University Police Station.

• All keys will be sent by campus mail to Physical Facilities Department in the Cole Service Building.

Less Valuables (equipment, clothing, swimsuits, shoes, towels, locks, etc.)

• Items will be kept at the Reception/Equipment counter.

• Items will be inspected for the name of the owner and initiate contact.

• Items will be kept for up to two (2) weeks, and then donated to charity.

Locker Removal Items

• Items will be removed from lockers due to a Daily Usage lock cut off because it was left overnight, or an expired locker clean-out.

• All items in these lockers will be recorded on an inventory sheet, placed in a bag all together, then placed in a secure location.

• The Recovery Fee for these items is $5.00 and can be recovered at the Pro Shop.

• All items will be kept for up to two (2) weeks, then, depending on items’ values, will follow the procedures above for donation or relocation of items.

Items to Discard

• These items will be kept for up to two (2) weeks then discarded: undergarments, torn clothing, water bottles, and toiletries such as lotion, shampoo, makeup, etc.
