Cardio Sign-up System
There is a 30-minute limit on all cardiovascular equipment on the upper level of the Fitness Center in order to:
- Guarantee all patrons the chance to use the equipment in the Fitness Center
- Ensure a consistent rotation of patrons on the equipment
- Allow for regular cleaning of the equipment
- All patrons must register at the Cardio Sign-up desk which is located at the entrance of the upper level of the Martin Fitness Center. Patrons must use the cardio sign-up system in order to exercise on any type of cardiovascular equipment. A Fitness Center Coordinator is available at the computer to sign up each patron for a 30 minute limit on the requested machine, according to availability. The time limit allows the patron to commute to the machine, pick up a magazine, stretch, warm-up, clean the machine after use, etc.
- This system is in effect most of the year unless otherwise noted (summer, holidays, etc).
- Patrons are required to wear closed toe athletic footwear, appropriate to the Fitness Center at all times. Sandals, flip flops or aqua socks are not permitted.
- Food, gum and beverages are prohibited in the Fitness Center. Water in a squeeze bottle with a lid is the only exception.
- Please do not drop weights or weight stacks or prop the weights against the walls or pillars.
- Shirts with backs must be worn at all times.
- Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult during Youth Access Hour.
- All weight equipment must be returned to the appropriate storage racks after use.
- All equipment should be used only in the manner for which it is designed. Do not attempt to modify equipment or use it in a non-standard manner.
- Spotters are required during Olympic weight and bench press exercises. Spring collars must be used at all times on all bars in free weight lifting.
- Top loading additional weights onto the weight stack machines is prohibited.
- Patrons are encouraged to bring a towel to dry the weight equipment, benches, and aerobic equipment after each use.
- Personal trainers, coaches, or consultants (other than Rec fitness program employees) are not permitted to use this facility.
- Please share machines and assist others with their workout. When doing multiple sets, let others work in.
- Proper warm-up and cool-downs are recommended for a healthy work out.
- Users of this facility must comply with all instructions given by the Fitness Center Supervisors. Failure to comply with instructions or regulations may result in suspension of center privileges.
- All valuables and belongings should be placed in a locked locker before entering the Fitness Center. The Rec is not responsible for personal belongings brought into the Fitness Center. Do not leave personal items behind the counter.
- All concerns and maintenance needs should be immediately reported to the Fitness Center Coordinator.
- All equipment must remain in the room; equipment from other areas may not be brought in
