Miami to Miami 2011
Interested in getting in shape before taking that Spring Break trip? We have the perfect program for you! Our Miami to Miami program is absolutely free and will help you to stay motivated and keep track of your progress. You also have a chance to win some cool prizes.
Here are the rules:
Each participant will need to swim the distance from Oxford, OH to Miami, FL (approximately 1188 miles) using the conversion of 25 yards = 2 miles, or 14,850 yards. Below are some example conversions:
- Swimming 5 days a week – 400 yards/day
- Swimming 3 days a week – 650 yards/day
- Swimming 1 day a week – 1950 yards/day
Participants must swim this distance between the dates of January 9, 2012 – March 2, 2012.
Participants must sign up in the Aquatic Office by filling out a registration form and will receive a complimentary Body Composition Pass from the Fitness Center.
For swims to count, participants must come into the office after their swims and tell a staff member who will record the distance on their registration forms.
All swimming to be counted toward the Miami to Miami program must be completed in this facility.
All swimming strokes, kick boarding, or aqua jogging will count toward miles in this program.
Swimming completed during programmed activities such as ICA, Club, Makos, or Masters practice does NOT count toward miles for this program.
All swimmers who have completed the distance will receive a free one month Group Fitness pass, an additional Body Composition Pass, and be entered in a raffle to win prizes and t-shirts. If a swimmer completes the distance and does not win a t-shirt, the swimmer may purchase the t-shirt.
Names of participants may be included on a bulletin board located in the Aquatic Center that would track participants’ progress. If you have any objections to this, please inform an aquatics staff member at the time that you sign up.
