Vinyasa
Yoga
1: |
(previously Hatha Yoga)
focuses on the alignment/form of individual postures. Basic postures
are held for longer periods of time to explore the refinements of
aligning the body, and the class usually includes a restorative posture.
Anyone new to yoga or wishing to explore the basics in more detail
in a slowly flowing yoga class will find Vinyasa Yoga 1 a good starting
point. Suitable for most fitness levels. No prior yoga experience
needed. |
|
Vinyasa
Yoga
2: |
(previously Soft Power Yoga)
introduces more Sun Salutations and more
challenging postures than Vinyasa
Yoga 1. It can also include an alignment segment
focusing on one posture or a featured
emphasis among several postures. No prior yoga
experience needed. |
|
Vinyasa
Yoga
3: |
is a vigorous practice that adds
preparations for more advanced arm balances and inversions in an environment
that is experimental and fun. Previous yoga experience is recommended. |
| Vinyasa
Yoga
3+: |
is similar to Vinyasa Yoga 3 but
adds preparations for more advanced arm balances and inversions in
an environment that is experimental and fun. |
| Ashtanga
Yoga: |
is from the lineage of Yoga Guru
Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga Yoga literally
means “eight-limbed yoga,” consisting
of codes of behavior towards oneself and others,
postures, breath and sensory control,
concentration, meditation, and absorption. The
primary, second and third series
in the ashtanga system are set sequences of sun salutations, standing
postures, seated forward and back bends, twists and inversions. In
this class, we will practice poses from all three series while maintaining
traditional sequences to cultivate the eight limbs. Previous yoga
experience is recommended. |
| Jivamukti Yoga |
is a vigorously physical and intellectually
stimulating practice. Each class focuses on a theme, which is supported
by teachings from ancient and modern yogic texts, music, challenging
asana sequencing, yogic breathing practices and meditation. Jivamukti
Yoga integrates the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of
yoga practices that originated in India into the modern lifestyle. Previous
yoga experience is recommended. |
| Hatha Yoga |
Inspired by the Kripalu
yoga style emphasizing proper breath, anatomical alignment, and
coordination of breath with movement. After learning the fundamentals of
poses and core strength (stage 1) students will begin to hold poses
longer to foster strength, concentration, calm and self-awareness (stage
2). This is not a vinyasa flow class and there are fewer sun
salutations. Every class begins with fun warm-ups and ends with a guided
deep relaxation. Students often leave feeling refreshed and relaxed;
energized and calm. Modification will be given to make this class
suitable for all fitness levels. |
